Favorite Things 2018!

The holidays are officially upon us!

And in that spirit, it’s time for my annual Favorite Things post. I haven’t quite made it to Oprah’s level yet, so I’m afraid I can’t deliver one of each of these things to each of you… believe me, nothing would make me happier!

But I can recommend some great goodies for you and your practice. I’ve used each of the things I’m recommending, and I love them. I hope you’ll love them, too!

Without further ado, here is the 2018 list!

  1. Clarycalm Essential Oil Blend by doTerra.

Am I the last person to hear about this stuff?

Clarycalm is a marvelous blend of essential oils that not only smells wonderful, but is great for so many things: calming nerves and anxiety, getting a good night’s sleep, and for those of us of a certain age (ahem) it takes the edge off of hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms.

And bonus — it’s the perfect size for a stocking stuffer! You can get it online here, or from your favorite doTerra distributor.

  2. Anything by Carlos Nakai.

I have about 24 hours of soft music on my iPod in my treatment room, and anytime Carlos Nakai comes on, I practically melt.

You know that feeling you get when you are really connected to your client and in the “flow?” Nakai’s gorgeous Native American flute music is the perfect accompaniment to bodywork of any kind. My personal favorite CD is Canyon Trilogy, but really all of music is magnificent. I’d be surprised if you don’t love it, too.

  3. Goop for your hands.

If you’re like me, you wash your hands about a bazillion times a day on the days you are treating clients, so you need a good moisturizer to take care them.

My two favorites are Burt’s Bees Hand Salve, and Shea Butter Hand Cream by L’Occitane. The hand salve is concentrated beeswax and eucalyptus oil that is deeply soothing to dry, tired hands. At $8 for a 3 oz. tin, it’s my go-to, every-day hand treatment.

When you want to splurge, L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream is perfect. Made in France, it’s one of the most popular hand creams in the world — a tube is sold every 3 seconds! It’s a splurge at $29 for a 5 oz tube, but oh so worth it. It’s what I use every night before bed to ensure my hands continue to be in good shape so that I can keep doing this work I love so much.

  4. Passion Planner.

If you haven’t yet heard me sing the praises of Passion Planner, buckle up!

These annual planners are part journal, part organizer, part calendar. You know I’m Old School, and I believe in the power of actually writing things down on paper. There’s an energetic shift that happens when you take the time to write out your goals and action-plan for the year that just isn’t the same when you do it digitally.

I now use my Passion Planner as my appointment book, and I love how there is space each day to reflect and journal. I’m also a big fan of the company and their values — for example, they provide Passion Planners for underprivileged people trying to improve their lives free of charge. If you’re ready to hit the ground running in 2019, Passion Planner is a must.

  5. Pact Organics.

Finally, I love to be comfortable when I work, and Pact makes super comfy, super soft basic clothing — sweaters, tees, camisoles, yoga pants — and everything I’ve ever bought from them I adore.

You gotta love a company whose tagline is “Cozy without the Crap”!

I try to support conscious businesses whenever I can, and Pact is dedicated to fair trade and sustainable business practices. One of my favorite initiatives lets you take the box your order was delivered in, pack it with your own gently used clothes that you no longer wear, and then send the package (with free shipping!) to an organization who will distribute your clothes to folks who need them. Win, win, win!

There you have it — the Top 5 of 2018. I hope that you have a wonderful holiday season, and that you are ready for a spectacular new year.
